It took me some time to figure out how I'd put them together and what to use for the plant material without paying an arm and a leg. Anyway, I finally made them and I think they turned out just the way I was hoping. I think I need a wreath for the door now. It's looking lonely.
I have added a few new things to the living room in Victoria's Farmhouse. I made a lamp for the table between the two chairs. I wired it so that it works. I also added a lamp on the piano that is a Tiffany style lamp. It also works, Yea! I made a rug for the floor as well. The room is definitely coming together.
I've also attached the cushions on the chairs now, so they are complete.
Here are the lights all on. I think they look so warm and cozy. I think the molding will make the room even more charming once it's installed. It's bugging me that the door is unfinished.
So, I have been working on the living room in the Victoria's Farmhouse Dollhouse. I'm loving how it's coming along. It's still very bare, but things are starting to look like a real room and I can envision the finished room. I haven't glued down the wallpaper so it's coming away from the wall in some places. I also haven't added baseboards or crown molding, both of which will be in the final room. They will be white. The curtains need a few adjustments, but overall, I think everything is looking how I had hoped.
I made a coffee filter wreath for the fireplace window in the exact same way that you would make a real life sized one. I think it turned out cute.
You can see that the chair's upholstery hasn't been glued down either. I don't like to finalize anything because I have a hard time making decisions. But hopefully this gives you a feel for what the room will look like.
You can see that the door is falling out of its frame. This French door leads into the adjoining dining room. I have to trim the wood floor so the door will sit flush against the floor. Then it will fit in the frame. But for now, it is too tall.

I think I'm getting sick of winter. I've been busy trying to add a little touch of spring to my dollhouse miniatures to cheer things up a bit. I haven't really had a good go at making flowers, so I thought I'd give it a try. I think this is an art that takes practice. I am pleased with my flowers and know now what I would do differently when I get in the flower making mood again. I think they look so pretty and just want to put them in my own kitchen. These blue flowers are supposed to be hydrangeas...which happens to be one of my favorite flowers.

I'm all finished with DD dollhouse except for the stairs (which are under way). It looks so cute with its shingles and trim. I added a little Christmas spirit on the front doors. I also have to add some door handles to the interior doors. But the end is in sight. Excuse the mess behind the house. My craft room is quite untidy right now. I was hoping to finish up this dollhouse so that I could clean it up a little.
I just finished making this cute little carousel for the nursery in Virginia's Farmhouse Dollhouse. I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

As always, there are a few things I would have done differently the second time around. I got the tutorial from the cutest little site,CAROUSEL TUTORIAL. It has other tutorials, but I couldn't resist making this carousel. It was rather simple to make, but I had to do some adjusting. I had to print the border around the top and bottom twice, because it wasn't quite long enough as is, to cover around the whole thing. I also printed at 90% because I felt like the original was too large for scale, and my 1.25" hole punch fit the circles perfectly at the smaller size. That cut down on cutting out circles, since I used stacked circles for the base and top, instead of the thick stuff she used. I also added the bead cap and bead on top to give it a little more dimension. She adds beads around the bottom, which I may add later, but didn't have on hand.

I think it goes quite nicely with the nursery. I definitely need a few more toys and things to spruce it up. But for now, the baby has at least one toy to play with. :)

And it's almost been just that. Life is very busy with three children, but have no fear... I am always doing minis. I just don't always get time to post about them. My latest creation that is actually finished (minus throw pillows), is this chevron couch. I saw the fabric at a quilt shop and couldn't pass it up. Needless to say, I created the whole living room to match it. I used Kri's tutorial for her chair, and just stretched it out and changed the back. It worked wonderfully, and I think it turned out very nice for my second couch ever.

Besides that, Victoria's Farmhouse is coming along slowly but surely. I have wallpapered almost every room, and will be working on molding soon. And most of the shingles are done on the roof. Woot!

The shabby house bedroom is coming along. I love the wallpaper I found for it. I will most likely do a pastel yellow of some sort for the other two walls, and do the bead board only the bottom half. I like how it's turning out. I have to play a little with filling in the weird gaps around the ceiling. I'll probably use mat board.

The advantage to having an all white door is that it matches everything. The disadvantage is that it is less of one of a kind house, since I have seen quite a few people with this same dollhouse all painted white. We weren't that far off from that fate though anyway, since everything else was white, so I went with the all white door. I'm glad I did. This wreath I made last night would not have matched the green door. I think the house looks good all white. Maybe that's why so many people have done their's all white. :)

It took some time, and mine doesn't look nearly as good as hers ended up, but I'm pleased with the overall product. I still have to put a finish paint on it, sand it, and distress it a little (and make a mattress, which she also has a tutorial for), but I think it will definitely be a usable bed in my shabby chic house. Yea!

And I'm so happy! I had to wait the whole car ride home from the post office and a few other errands, to open them because I wanted to capture the cute package that they came in. It was very hard not to just open the package immediately. The long wait was worth it! These flowers are so beautiful and they look even more amazing in person. The detail is incredible. You are very talented Blanca. Thank you so much for these wonderful flowers. Now I get to find places to put each of them.

I can't say it enough.aristacrinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04891096167557015509noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034108989720052888.post-9283924467541505082012-04-24T20:52:00.002-07:002012-04-24T20:52:17.765-07:00CurtainsI added curtains to the Cherry Cottage Boutique. They are simple, but I'm not that great at sewing so that's just how it's going to have to be. I think they are very cottage boutique appropriate. I love lace also, so I'm pleased for now.

Needless to say, it has grown on me and I've decided it really isn't that bad. That means I can share a picture of it. I may re-do the ruffles at some future point (that's the part bugging me most, among other things), but until then, I think it's okay to display as a place holder until I possible find something better to replace it, or I adjust the things that bug me. Now to make some shabby pillows for it. :)

I like the color of it for a shabby chic kitchen. I think the fridge will actually go under the stairs, and I have a 1920's sink that will go where the fridge is. The small shabby table set that I have yet to build, will go by the bay window. I'm getting excited to fill the room. Now for the upstairs. I have some good ideas for the bedroom, but I still need inspiration for the bathroom. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6kMwrf88aw1UOmAQMxAxYymWFbmz_0NK-6TBELjtSLEfYU75Z4M4MdyjDxlqq_pl3g88C0BgphdKhGqnFme1bOu5mvcLm3ykGJk20gg7UpmQxs1rkD_VYsFOZAtKkX8qReD7Rmt1U9oY/s320/IMG_1530.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5731757443572012354" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimR_rKw7ViXua5ADpvIth9aLsahTvm8sN31HY29pzmqG45xil7IduPwek3aBpjLyP5VqO91c8kvYMoF5nuVFulauBeuA5AMGW-7V3vR5N0yTAG8Xp869cUWZDXdJR65ElB-Y-LnQ3qlew/s320/IMG_1529.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5731757426058789938" />aristacrinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04891096167557015509noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034108989720052888.post-84087030070845003882012-04-05T13:11:00.003-07:002012-04-05T13:33:21.549-07:00More Shingles and CarpetI have started shingling the roof of Victoria's Farmhouse Dollhouse. The shingles came out a different color than the first house I did, even though I used the same technique. I actually wanted this color for this house, so that's a good thing. It's really adding to the finished look.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsRj9Wlj4-Zkj3h3evuhf9BZLqlvFOxj9DQ7wNTsJwSbIgUi5mBAi-ktmkKY7CMQaIQxMb7J-Bacc_XOkerjWaKkBotB9CiiHvWxycBDZvfl1W2tyDARw8OuJY5_79iKcXtaUYZxYneBU/s320/IMG_1364.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5728013892528811474" />

I found a place mat at the Dollar Tree that I thought was perfect carpet. It reminds me of Berber carpet, which was what I was hoping to have in this room. I wanted a neutral color and this one also matches the color of the hardwood floor throughout the rest of the house. I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't glued it down yet, so there are ripples in the picture. And now you can't see the patch. Yea!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUrA5fERhrMag-O_M_Yddr2HK6E13IjDAS6mYH6o9MRrI-mknIsJPvfAdbGBz6M2OX7xPg3WpODOAotK6rSbVQbL_4wKevRaJL0SxM_1NosOjP7LtX3CkhaSIpLHZs4aydzkdApze2auE/s320/IMG_1366.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5728013881318137842" />

I finished the wallpaper in the master bedroom as well. I also made a wood floor that needs to be stained. I will probably use the pie safe that is pictured here, but paint it white and take out the tin so it will be a glass bookcase. The chair would also get a white finish and new upholstery, if I keep it here. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4KqkpegEPEin1vSth3cI58hrFzDUlvpKwJpqV8Ps6YakskjmsODsNKlrA75uPB6eKHUukLSRooi478Hvyl4XW_n41u4jIyAMjzFFnMngwp-XFXzLUsySe2T6_N_8h9RF9E10zd1YzAuM/s320/IMG_1281.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5727730512429746242" />

I also bought some doors for the Alison Jr Dollhouse that are a little different than my normal pick. However, I actually like these ones better because they have such charm. They look like doors I would have found in my grandmas house. I love the horizontal panels. I also made room in the bathroom for the laundry. It's tight, but it works. My daughter "NEEDED" it in her house. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5B95AfozaY7m6UBsKrIX5gazCqFlMdnavTbtuPVqRx54Ulq5-MYU67yE74vSrmURR7M3suc8QDyD5UXmjltxKEX477kpaIbPCVn16V_n4DJ5uIvMX5LkBpSEYLRSALyZzQVY6D2U3Muk/s320/IMG_1283.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5727730498357876098" />aristacrinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04891096167557015509noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034108989720052888.post-6812189409181613012012-03-30T12:02:00.005-07:002012-05-03T23:05:38.722-07:00I finally shingled something!I found this great tutorial on making my shingles look aged and thought I would give it a try. I haven't shingled any of my dollhouses because it freaks me out. I'm afraid that the end result won't be what I was hoping for, and that's a lot of work to mess up on. So I tried it on the smallest of my houses first. And I think it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. And it was very easy to do. You can find the tutorial here.
I'm no longer afraid of shingling! Although, now the time factor intimidates me a little. This small house took the whole of a day to shingle. It did have a few tricky angles to shingle around though. My other houses don't have as many tricky spots for the square footage involved. Now I just need to build up the ambition to finish the other houses. Yea!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3t7gcsnPVv4ANGPVvEB0kRG07I2gg6KIlDVQg3F-2QDsaqSdIoEV4qN8vCEltq5hlhZX2J7fFktWpTxiYLJ2_sbbGpDJHLp_sKyVStL8HN-E0zuEjdS6ysm_5eZkrgeYq4StJr5gf0Dg/s320/IMG_1270.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725768458931263250" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKlLDmU2L6GeigrBUKo0UzQyjt3toxnK_btDSl8rDFtevyozSLtQKe1_2wvP4O90Ra17ljbDeqjiir5R4V7NIvw2vKtdRlN7yR2qd4JLTRTIsN7prwKM1Y17D-1fyqsvmvR_bw5JAnIks/s320/IMG_1277.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725768448592374082" /> I still need to prop up the floor with a support so it doesn't sag.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiyHSjCHQ9fmWoOkV2W-VNMZ5zEXri20qFgNsd0mqGoCEW_FvHk-izlzAGf5MdpBjL8Pb7l1ZVhqEUjtjqdfTjJ0NBBl3czgtqixAPksTcma6Tzq9S4YsgJi8f_MhTqk1YnBIPz9m4ES8/s320/IMG_1279.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725768441632688594" />aristacrinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04891096167557015509noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034108989720052888.post-22010976700921450272012-03-27T19:41:00.003-07:002012-03-27T19:50:42.845-07:00Roses For My PitcherI decided to take a crack at making flowers. I've had this pitcher made for quite some time, but haven't had anything to put in it. I always envisioned it with flowers, so here's my first attempt at roses. I think they turned out pretty cute. They'll go wonderfully in my shabby living room. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN2ECs0XHD2xNnhCYHVymdNIpw_V_wJpDTZSfGuU-6cAd-WP7EFuq0o-yiBeexpgIwabusxdDvs-U0WeBnNYxuCGyTBluW2ffLIEcJiDVLI2CJ7nDtu4JBydHa8gCu1RLeq6VcRq-ZjCg/s320/IMG_1258.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5724773999811775394" />aristacrinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04891096167557015509noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034108989720052888.post-3592983049943236332012-03-23T10:32:00.003-07:002012-03-23T10:41:15.538-07:00I made a chair!I have this thing for shabby wing chairs, or really any wing chair. Anyway, I decided that I need a pattern so I can make one any time I want. I sat down with some cardboard, paper, glue, and left over fabric from another project, and started cutting. Oh yeah, I also had some batting. This is what I came up with. Although I think it turned out adorable, I can now see what adjustments need to be made to the pattern I created. I think I'll make the arms a little more fuller, and make them a little less dramatically curved. Other than that, I absolutely love the chair. I didn't realize how cute the polka dots would be. It's not the kind of shabby I'm going for, for this house, but I staged it here anyway. I hope to make one for this room that is completely white. Maybe I'll do that today. :)

Sorry the chair is a little blurry. The camera seemed to want to focus on the fireplace. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBQ0zzoWUrQzYDEbbpyifGzZ1fHmAnSrhvgLfTds8k6TQzKqbXXTrcxsBEM6QKr1ykw6fruTfY7vQLNrNr57JIsrZPEAOf9nf1peLKhAO3Uh_2PmNj7JXugwoIQ9Nih6IJ6sDF6kkK8ro/s320/IMG_1241.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723147455470054722" />aristacrinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04891096167557015509noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034108989720052888.post-84125803207775194932012-03-21T15:31:00.005-07:002012-03-21T15:53:28.385-07:00New WallpaperI think I found a winner for the shabby house living room wallpaper. The first picture is the old wallpaper and the other two pictures are the new. I liked the old wallpaper, but it just wasn't shabby enough. The new wallpaper should work better with the ideas I have in my head for the house. Yea!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOuLSWEWaTfeC6VR7X74-0qgGLA1CuIuGOw8blSVFgf934m0w0uehmVbbROEr_WtNLFXnjd5KTrlF0mBTeO-ju4oefBL6vri9RPJ4_83ETNDCA3iL1RPY7lDhtqeHkAQymim6cQ5TRvvo/s320/IMG_1089.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722482662119988034" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqzuO-jNBby3jVF642K408j3LpRAy0nJ6uQ_XnMUZCPRE3WdEWFWD1SsENS4Hw7fGCLME8mH7ux7qjjAyyFVTWOcpG49NpkWH3dkInkWr5NPjJE5Rqa4z1ErzMobrKD0Hx4SoPyes9qZ0/s320/IMG_1235.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722486689349584514" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbAWRo5PXdqE4Sv5Ep-XlfBb2yn-TMtLV27dfuaaTk-JvN955f0stjlt6ziKtZCvDJ9RZ6Bj-dHZUuGyL7wfrQlYPEfYQW1YsPucIcgGCCM6lmXVVDOPGyxmuJAznie0HHEFOWakPHHZ8/s320/IMG_1236.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722486685684768882" />aristacrinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04891096167557015509noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034108989720052888.post-13323267160917761322012-03-21T12:12:00.005-07:002012-03-21T12:18:21.677-07:00I won!The chances of actually winning a giveaway can't be that big, considering so many people participate. But I actually won a giveaway! And a fabulous one at that. I love little miniature flowers, and the ones Blanca made are so lovely and detailed. I have so many places I can put them, and absolutely can't wait to receive them. It is so nice of her to give these away, and I'm so thrilled to be the lucky recipient. Yea for wonderful giveaways! Knowing how excited I am to have won, I will definitely have to do a giveaway for someone else. Maybe when I reach 100 followers (if I ever get there :)). Thank you so much Blanca. I can't wait to receive them!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW7DgI4_YiFa8fLTJTcaSdIttDYpcBoNdyqt-qufcngGD5-5M2GDW6QRX8DhVcLlYe7qBZmR9BxmnRQBerCcOsAlbVyE3vhQsmCr9UZuYhQHJeeFPxMsMo4LWAx7EeEgC-n49vicdW8bw/s320/giveaway+i+won%2521.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722431520302727474" />aristacrinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04891096167557015509noreply@blogger.com3
